I started running in 1993 following cardiac surgery. My first race was a 5K in Del Mar, CA, in 1994. That was he longest race of my life! I managed to complete 4 Marathons before my knees and back forced me to the sidelines. I was privileged to be a volunteer for the Myrtle Beach Marathon in 1998 and 1999 and it's Executive Drector from 2000 to 2008. I helped form the Grand Strand Running Club in 2004. Although I can no longer take part in races, I find great pleasure in helping to produce running events and in hanging around runners.
